MVG Fahrinfo München App Reviews

One of three indispensable apps for Munich

We had a blast touring Munich and southern Bavaria on our bikes with bus/tram/train support for the farther distances. This app, along with BayernRadler and DB Navigator were used extensively on our trip and made for a very smooth experience. Very important when traveling with a toddler and 5 year old.

Localization

Latest update dropped localization, so the app is now much more difficult to use. Right before Oktoberfest, too — nice planning, guys. If German isnt your native language, hold off on updating.

Previous version was better

Previous version was available in English and had offline route maps which were very helpful. I dont understand why these two features were removed. Hopefully they will be available on the next update again.

Went backwards

1 lost the English. Which is silly since English is a common second language. 2 Lost the simple maps of the system. 3 figuring when the next bus/tram/train comes is painful and not very comprehendible. 4 frustrating upgrade. I lost useful features.

The old version was much better!

I understand the desire to update the app in order to prep for mobile tickets but much of the "awesomeness" from the old mvg app is gone. -the quick ability to scroll down results to see when you can find the next possible time to leave and make it to your destination (the GUI bar graph style chart with connections.) old style was much better, easier to read important information out of the screens. -when entering or pasting addresses in the destination field it wont accept the address. Instead if you manually start typing sometimes it works or you have to open google maps and find the nearest mvg "haltestelle" manually and then type it in the app. Not cool. -Huge fallback but easily fixable: (put the downloadable PDF maps back in!!! Totally valuable feature missing. - one plus- openstreetmaps are better than that ancient mapping data that was used previously. And now you sorta get a pin on the map with your current location. Thats nice just needs tweaking for accuracy. Overall please forgive me but Id be so happy if I could downgrade to the previous version. Please bring back some of the awesome features we miss!!! Ty

Map??

This was a great app but now I cant find the ubahn map? Where did it go?!?

Keeps crashing

Unreliable

Great update

To the poor people who lost the English localization, perhaps its a good time to start learning German! The connections per station in addition to the active system delays is great. Im not crying about the loss of the maps. In general the maps in the old app were worthless, they didnt include the tariff rings, so I always had to look at the MVG website to see if my 3-ring monthly pass was good to Riem or Taufkirchen. At any rate, great update. I would love to see a monthly pass on the phone, but alas, you cant expect too much from beamters.

Bad surprise

No contact support No maps No english The great connection result view removed

Horrible update, app no longer functions

Same comments as others, lack of maps and English language support is a big step backwards and frustrating. The bigger problem is the lack of ipad support. The app isnt formatted or usable on an ipad. Please rollback!

Language

This app used to be great, I would use it to navigate around Munich. The developers have now REMOVED English localization, and the app is very difficult for visitors to use.

Once valuable, now useless

This app used to be an everyday navigator for me. Since the update, its awful. What were you thinking? What I dislike the most is the way destinations must be entered now. Going to a destination with a long name? Before, you could type the first few letters, select one of the options suggested, and then edit the text of that option to match your exact destination. Now, you cannot edit the text, you can only retype the entire thing. Example: I want to go to Großhaderner Str. 4 in Martinsried. Previously I could type in "großh", select "Großhaderner Str. Martinsried" from the options suggested, and then edit the destination text to have the exact address. Now, if I want directions to the exact address, I have to type the whole thing out. Also, why remove the function to select the time by scrolling up OR down to it? Does it make the app work better when Im forced to scroll a long way up to 0:55 rather than scroll a tiny bit down to it? These issues may sound minor, but when this app is used several times per day, often in hurried situations, unnecessarily long or complicated input entry is irritating. Especially when the app functioned great in the old set-up. Updates that remove functionality are not helpful to users. I wish Id never updated!

No English localization!

Have to roll back for old version due to the dropped English support in 3.0. Quite disappointed with an update

I hate it

Horrible app, not happy they removed English and the better functioning older version. Doesnt make much sense. With the updates to google maps lately, this app is out of date (and out of touch). Might as well just delete this one from the phone.

Bad UI, Bad connections

Once, the featured a nice UI and the proposed connections were the fastest. Now, the user can see and feel that this is not a native app anymore and the results are sometimes not good at all.

localization

supports only de, no other translations, even en.

No maps anymore??

This was a great app, until they took away the maps. Now you have no way to see the U-bahn, S-bahn or tram lines. Please put the maps back in!
